Firefly is a graphic design, and illustration studio, specializing in logo design and brand identity.
PHILOSOPHY
There is no formula for great design. We treat each project as completely unique and individual - like our clients. You can talk about processes, formulas and procedures all you want but great design is the result of the intangible ability to take the client's thoughts and information and assimilate it into a cohesive idea for their specific needs. Every client and project is different.
FOUNDER

Steve O'Laughlin, President
Prior to starting Firefly in 1999 Steve spent four years at SME Design in NYC working on sports identities for almost every major league and over thirty colleges. Among the identities he played a major role in creating or redefining are the Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Wild, Atlanta Thrashers, New York Rangers, New York Liberty, Alabama Crimson Tide and the DePaul Blue Demons.
After becoming the "go to guy" at the world's leading sports design firm he decided to start his own business and landed the one major league that had eluded SME, Major League Soccer. For the last five years he has worked closely with the creative director on numerous logos and projects including the branding and style guide for the league itself and recently completed the redesign of the Dallas Burn who are now known as F.C. Dallas. He has also created several identities for World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. which include Hollywood Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Undertaker and Rob Van Dam.
Steve's expertise in logo design and understanding of the need for logos to be designed to hold-up across their many required applications is uniquely rooted in and is a direct result of his many years doing t-shirt and embroidery art for numerous companies on the east coast. In the eighties he did countless surf and skateboard designs for t-shirts using the now lost art of hand color separating each design. In the early nineties he worked for Salem Sportswear and CCM where he learned first hand the restrictions of embroidery and how to compensate for it's shortcomings while maintaining the integrity of the design and got his first chance at team identity design.
He has nearly twenty-five years of experience in logo design, illustration character development, font design, promotion, advertising, fashion, sportswear and packaging as well as music and sculpture.
